Before killing the beast, Ramon was well and alive. After killing the beast, I went to his house and he was dead. Is this perfectly normal or was I too late or didn't trigger some event?

Yep, it should be normal. I had tried talking to him with all of my characters before and nothing happened, so I'm pretty sure there is nothing to do there.

I screwed up big time with the Daghmaar escort quest. Didn't know about the house of pain thing so I finished it quickly and went ahead and did a few more quests. When I read it here and had to start from the previous save... oh god.
